Liability and Insurance

Travel and cancellation insurance is recommended for all of our clients. The purchase and processing of insurance coverage is the responsibility of the client. Prior to starting a tour with Northern Tower Tour operation (NTTO) an insurance protection should be one of the major considerations for the full duration of the travel, to cover personal injury, medical expenses, and repatriation expenses. If a client falls ill, all hospital expenses, medical expenses, doctor’s fees and repatriation costs are the client’s responsibility and NTTO shall not be liable for any refund of the tour.

NTTO is insured against legal liabilities arising from any injuries which might be received by passengers whilst in its vehicles. The company liability to passengers carried in its vehicles is governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in which the tour is taking place and no other country; and all claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the country in which the cause of action arises. If you have booked a camel, horseback or walking expedition, it is your responsibility to cover yourself with appropriate accident insurance. These forms of adventure are considered a dangerous sport and you must be covered by your own insurance brokers at home.

Quoted tour prices include planning, handling and operational charges, and are quoted based on the current rate of exchange. In the event of a marked increase in foreign exchange or tariff rates, costs are subject to revision. NTTO purchases transportation, hotel accommodations, restaurant and other services from various independent suppliers that are not subject to its control. NTTO CANNOT, THEREFORE, BE LIABLE FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE that may occur due to

  1.  Any act or omission of such a supplier, or
  2.  Defects in or failures of any aircraft, vessel, automotive vehicle or other means of transportation that is not under its control.
