Description

Irecha is one of the oldest traditional culting cultures of the largest ethnic group of the country, the Oromo people. Most of the Oromo are followers of this old religion believing in one god called Waqa and they had their own traditional ruling system of the Gada system which was age based ruling tradition. This festival is celebrated in a place called Bishoftu also known by the Christian name as Debrezieth. The celebration took place at the third week of September according to our calendar mainly in Lake Horra, Debrezeith and is attended with thousands of the Oromo people, local people and a lot of tourist and it is becoming very prominent traditional holyday at this time.
